Swans Rally Late to Beat Lions - Round 4 10/06/06
Saturday the South Dublin Swans made the long trip down to Cork to battle it out with the Leeside Lions. Heading down with a big squad and missing only a couple pf key players the swans were primed for a big match.

Having one the toss the Lions took the breeze in the first quarter and looked to get an early start but the boys from South Dublin showed persistence and were able to keep the Lions at bay, kicking a couple of goals into a strong wind.

With the liability shouting loudly on the sidelines the second quarter saw a fast running lions team take it to the swans into the wind. Hard running from Bryce, Damo, Adam, Kev and Eddy kept the Lions working hard and home town hero Joe "boyo" Kirby worked well in the backline. The Swans however kicked inaccurately and didn’t take full advantage of playing down the field only putting one major on the board.

During the third quarter Craig "the brainchild" Wood continued his good form with a couple of high flying attempts and earned himself a nice shiner from a dubious knee to the head. Despite the Swans efforts the Lions with a couple of goals on the board kicked themselves back into contention going into the last break five points up.

Super Coach Ben "I'm not Going to lose this game" Fitzsimmons sixth sense came into motion and made some quick decisions at the last change. Moving Michael "Presidente" Oakes into the Ruck and best on Ground Stephen "Wes" Fellowes into the Centre. With Fresh legs in the middle the Swans were able to get three quick clearances to the coach who had moved into the square and all of a sudden the Swans were up by thirteen points. The boys turned on a gutsy fourth quarter and held off the hard running Lions to take it out 04.11.35 to 7.06.48.
