Swans take Demons (30/06/07)
A game surrounded by a great deal of controversy before the first whistle was even blown the Swans turned up ready to play (their home game) against the Demons who were looking likely to have to borrow players from the Saints. When the game finally got underway, the Demons had ‘managed’ to collect a team of 16 (of their own players) ready to face us. The game kicking off in the belting sunshine with a bit of heat to boot.

The Swans jumped on the opportunity from the first ball-up, with Rossy & Luke performing well in the ruck, and the on-ballers contributing in the packs to get the ball out and down towards goal to set up numerous opportunities for the forwards. The on-ballers also having plenty of cracks at goal as well.
Playing as a well oiled machine, and providing some ferocious tackles and bone-jarring shepherds for their teammates, the Swans came off the ground with the ascendancy in the first quarter, having piled on 4 goals 2 (against the breeze) to 1 solitary point.

The game continued in much the same vain for the next two quarters, with the Swans diving on the ball in the tight contests and sharing the ball around (occasionally a little too much). More physicality had the Demons hurt and wondering what had hit them, the Swans taking a resounding lead of 8 goals into the main break.

The third quarter was a similar story, with fresh legs & new faces coming onto the ground towards the 3qtr time siren. Having had the run of the play yet again the Swans added another three goals to their total, to lead by a huge 67points into the final qtr. The Demons by this stage demoralised and powerless to stop the Swans freight train.

The fourth quarter saw plenty of experimenting with position changes and plenty of new lads getting game time. We took our foot off the gas a little and conceded two goals to the D’s and some inaccurate kicking netting us another five points (Bryce aka Richo playing either, story???). By that stage the game was already well and truly won, with the Swans able to take plenty of positives from the game into our next match against the current league leaders Cork.

In what was a well fought out game the Swans came out victorious by 58 points, a very vocal and rousing rendition of the club song following immediately after!

Well done to all, and many thanks to the support crew (Martin, Simon & Bryce) for running water, scoring & umpiring and all their other activities that helped out the team immensely.
Thanks also to all the supporters who cheered us on to the final siren.
Swans 11.11.77 to Demons 2.7.19
Well done again Swans!
